The downer? That it's opening in the United States Dec. 11, 2009 and where am I? In England! The only downer to it all. Other than that, I'm thrilled beyond belief. Since the mention of this, there have been many negatives spoken from black folk and I've found some negatives from whites. The black negatives were, why couldn't the prince be black as well? Maybe the next story, okay? I'm holding onto one that I wrote, called, the Legend of Namcompor - that will have a black prince, if I could only get it to Disney before someone turns one in -with a black prince that is- time will tell, so much on my plate, who knows. Anyway, back to this one! The Princess and the Frog. Yes, there are some - not sure of the numbers, from the black community that felt a black prince could have been included, and should have - I suppose, but I'm not complaining, due to the fact that for the first time in decades, a black princess was not only considered, but actually decided firmly upon. Yahoooo!!! Other complaints, finally we get a black princess and what is she to date, a frog? Oh come on - the story is perfect, amazing and fitting the setting of New Orleans! This is Disney! If she had been with the Beast, that would have been a reason for complaint! If she had been a mermaid, that would have been a complaint! Snap out of it already!!! I love it! Bring on the frog! Another complaint, the prince was to be Norwegian, blonde hair, blue eyes - but Disney caved under the pressure from "sides" black or white or both maybe? Who knows, but they caved and made the prince brown skin too! Eeeeee-ugh! I - don't - care! He is PERFECT! Positively beautiful as is, I don't think they could have made him better - and as it is, the story is still interracial - and wonderful! I have always been a BIG Disney fan! I have ALWAYS loved cartoons and animation to my husband's chagrin, LOL - I don't care. Yes, even though as an adult I found that Walt Disney was very racist - this my husband has made sure to point out on several occasions - I - don't - care! He's six feet under now - and regardless, his work was wonderful and now, that a entirely new generation has come to be running the house, they're running it well! This new Disney film appeals to me on many levels... one, that little girl inside of me that is alive and well, who always wished to see a black princess, at a time when such a thing was unheard of, never taught - even though black princess's existed. Reason for my trilogy, Webster Fields - and the first book, Princess Ces'alena - I was tired of this MIA princess being missing - so regardless of what would be thought of it, I made her happen in Webster Fields - and now this, Disney turning out an incredible story with one, yeah - this feels good to me - real good. Another appealing attribute of the movie, is the realistic fact that Tiana states a truth that we as a black women, or rather, black people period know, The Prince - spoiled, lazy, waiting for others to do for him, wanting everything the easy way! My my is this a real life story wrapped in a fairytale! Such young prince's exist everywhere and more often than not, it takes a hard working, determined, focused woman, who waits for nothing, but goes out and gets it - to get him up off of his hinder and start cracking to make things happen! I love that TRUTH!!! It is my hope, that black women all over America first, grab all the little black girls and yes - white - Spanish, whatever the race - I hope that grab them by the hand and take them to this Disney film to see it - over and over again! So they understand, that there is nothing wrong with dreaming, wishing upon a star, but there must be action on their part to back it up, to give it a little help! What a wonderful, deep message and theme - I love it! I hope this movie not only gets that reception in America, but England, Africa, Jamaica, shucks, everywhere! We finally - have - the first black Disney princess - and I for one, am over the moon! And when it gets here to England, the hubby is taking me to the movies to see it, whether he wants to - or not! We're going! LOL, oh you should hear his groan about it, lol. It's not manly you see, and we don't have any small children to play it off with as the excuse for being there to watch it. Tough! We'll be there with bells on - well - I better not ring no bells, because he'd be ducking and hiding and I'd end up watching alone - know what, I wouldn't care if I did, no one, or their opinions will dampen this absolute joy for me - this is one that I WILL see at the theatre - and perhaps, more than once! In the end, all is well that ends well - here are a few clips from the amazing new addition of Disney's princesses! The Princess and the Frog...
Oh did this crack me up! I love it - can't wait - can't wait! And below, is my favorite clip, brought tears to my eyes, man do I love it.
Just one more!

I can't wait for this movie to come out. I already purchased my Princess Tiana Doll. I am in search for the Prince now. The Kissing Frogs are so cute. The girl frog can kiss the male frog on the cheek and it makes a smooching sound. I love it. I keep tell people I don't care about the controversy about the Prince not being black I am so excited about the movie.
